Rescued pet
Hi everyone! This past October I found a pittie in a McDonald’s parking lot after work one night. She was literally covered head to toe in ticks and fleas, I spent literal hours/days removing the ticks, I’ve never seen a dog that bad before. I took her to the vet a few days after finding her to get shots and to be fixed and to see if she was chipped (and to no surprise she wasn’t), she was anemic according to her blood work and was unable to get fixed because of that (according to the vets office she does have a tick borne disease, I cannot remember the name), I tried 2 more times after that, and still wasn’t safe to green light the surgery, I decided to give it a few more months to let her get her weight up and just overall health, but also had an additional dog with a fresh cancer diagnosis that I was also paying and taking care of, so I put getting her fixed on the back burner. Now here we are in July, she’s had issues with our cats since day one, we’ve kept them separated but lately there’s been an increase of her attacking the cats, extremely difficult to redirect her and I find myself taking awhile just to remove her from the situation, I am also 6 months pregnant so bending over isn’t super great in this situation. Aside from cats, she is a great dog and I hate that I’m unable to provide her with the environment she needs to thrive in and I’m probably just creating more trauma for her and my cats as time passes. It was never my intention to keep her but it has been hard trying to find her a home, specifically one without cats. Any advice? Or anyone know of a possible good home for her? She does great on walks and car rides, extremely loving and loves to cuddle, she’s not a hyperactive dog, she really enjoys her naps and sleeps in until noon if we let her 😂 it doe
