Deaf foster dog-available for adoption
Hi everyone! We just picked up this boy from the Bonita County Shelter for fostering! You can apply for adoption through the shelter website and we will set up a meet and greet at the shelter. Since he has been there longer than a month, they are not charging an adoption fee. Here is some information about him, hoping to get him adopted! - his name is Olaf (not set in stone or important since he is deaf) -9 months old - shelter says border collie mix -was found as a stray with his brother, both still at the shelter -has been at the shelter for over a month until today -he is neutered -he is completely deaf -loves other dogs -showed interest in playing with my cats through a fence -he doesn’t seem to know any commands (hand signals) - started leash training -shows moderate interest in treats, loves playing with toys -he is definitely nervous and anxious though comes around fairly quick -so far not a fan of the crate -loves to stand in the water bowls and get water everywhere -in a few hours he learned to use our doggy door and goes in and out -weighs about 45lbs, medium size dog Here is the type of owner I would look for/recommend: - experience with deaf dogs -willing to put time, possibly money into a professional trainer -have another dog that can guide him and make him feel comfortable -have TONS of patience -fairly active, as he definitely has lots of energy -again, patience. Because currently he really doesn’t “listen” to anything and has zero structure from being in the shelter so long
