Gecko!

Found this cute little gecko on the sidewalk last night while walking my dogs. I didn’t plan on picking it up, but there was a cat hunting outside two houses down and I felt bad leaving the gecko subject to cat torture/ play and almost certain death. We live on a canyon and I see lizards all the time but never a gecko. Has anyone else found geckos in San Diego? Ps. I plan on releasing it this evening because I’m pretty sure it’s nocturnal. I currently have it in a butterfly enclosure with a bunch of tiny bugs from the compost in the bottom, a small rock with a shallow indent to hold water and a plant.
