Found a lost/stray cat in the mission

Came across this guy today on Capp St between 25th and 26th. Seems like a lost/abandoned housecat because he was very friendly and crying out on the sidewalk :( No collar. Some neighborhood folks also spotted him a few days ago under a car and trying to get into one of the houses. Posting here in case someone's lost a cat or seen a lost cat poster! Also I'd appreciate any advice on what to do - if I report it to SF animal care do I need to take him there in a carrier to check for a microchip?
