amazing shelter dog(s) in need of home
hello everybody! As a lot of y’all know, PACC (Pima Animal Care Center) is currently trying to adopt out as many animals as possible. They had about 320+ go to their knew homes this past week, but there are still about 670 left. If you have the means or ability to go get a wonderful new companion, I totally encourage it. My partner and I had the wonderful experience of having “Samara” (pictured here), who we renamed Xena (short for Xenamorph) in our lives for a brief trial adoption. It unfortunately did not work out, as she had a really high prey drive instinct and we lived in an apartment with cats. The situation was too unpredictable and risky, which is why we opted for a trial adoption to begin with (we did not know her cat history). We had to give her back after two days, and it was heartbreaking for both of us. If we had any way to make it work, we would have. She was an absolutely wonderful, loving, sweet dog with so many amazing qualities and we’ll honestly probably miss her the rest of our lives. She’s a German Shepherd and (likely) Border Collie mix. At the shelter, she’d been documented as nervous, anxious, whale-eyed, and a kick me dog liable to be bad on a leash and unpredictable. This was probably because she was found as a pregnant stray. She was also sharing a kennel with a dog that was annoying her, which we feel probably gave off the wrong impression of her actual personality. We’re so glad we took a chance on her. As soon as she felt safe in our home, she cuddled up into us for hugs and laid right over for belly rubs. She never stopped being a total sweetheart. She did amazing on the leash and reacted super well to gentle correction (tugging lightly, clicking). She also tolerated the crate and only whined to tell us when she needed to go out, was potty
