Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this situation below - perhaps a contact with a news agency or something? or other suggestions? ——— Our time at Cortland Mountain Vista turned into a nightmare when a severe, lab-confirmed toxic mold problem was mishandled by management. Not long after moving in, both my family and our previously healthy dog began suffering alarming health problems — coughing, swelling, severe rashes, new allergies, asthma attacks requiring a nebulizer, extreme fatigue, brain fog, nerve issues, heart palpitations, weight changes, stomach issues, hair loss, severe migraines, menstrual cycle disruptions, and even new food allergies. Our dog developed coughing fits so intense it would cause her to vomit and resulted in multiple vet visits. A doctor confirmed these symptoms were consistent with toxic mold exposure. On July 16, 2025, we reported our health concerns and visible water damage to the leasing office. Management delayed inspection for six days, stating other “emergencies” were more pressing. On July 22nd, a moisture meter determined a 24% moisture level (well above the 17% high-risk threshold), yet they refused to bring in a licensed mold inspector and only offered the cosmetic repair of caulking, and a completely unrelated HVAC cleaning. Additionally, during the appointment when they found the 24% moisture reading, Amy Arens, the senior community manager, asked my fiancee if we had been eating mold on our food and if that’s what was making us sick.
