How much was the Sunday Globe when you were a kid, and did you deliver it? How big was your route? How much money did you make?

My route in Everett from 1978 to about 1981 was 52 dailies and 62 Sundays. Pickup for me was on the corner about 6 and I could be done by 7. Carried the dailies in a big canvas sack with an orange shoulder strap, and I did the Sundays with a shopping cart. One of my customers kept a tin of chocolate chip cookies on the front porch, thought I was being sneaky and found out later she was leaving them out for me and the postman. I became friendly with lots of dogs and cats, and people tipped pretty well of you took the time to make sure the paper stayed dry and was as close to the door as possible. It was a three street block that I doubt gets home delivery anymore. I think the daily was .25 or .35 when I started, the Sunday might have been .85 cents and was thick as a brick. I made enough to keep me in arcades, candy, whiffle ball equipment, and balsawood airplanes.
