Found lost kitten/ Want a free kitty?

Found this little girl behind the back door of my gf's job scratching on the door meowing away. She had a tiny sweater on so I'm assuming someone was caring for her but she somehow got away. I called animal control but they are no help around here. I really don't want to turn her in as I'm afraid they'll just lock her up or neglect her. I've had her for three days and shes very playful and sweet, so far I've not received a call back in regards to the lost kitty flyers i posted around here. Any takers out there? She's probably no more than two months old since she weighs about a pound or less, she also seems pretty used to humans.
