Apparently, Bella's owners divorced and the wife moved to a new building. When Bella was at the shelter a couple of weeks ago, the wife redeemed her because the husband didn't want her anymore. According to the wife, who surrendered Bella, Bella has severe separation anxiety and would bark incessantly when she and her daughter left the apartment. Neighbors complained and the landlord said that Bella had to go. The woman and her daughter were distraught, but the landlord was adamant. It's such a sad situation for Bella and the only family she's ever known. The Dog Interview that is posted provides more details. ************************** This, friends, is genuinely heartbreaking. On September 15, BELLA (#A2294571), a 9-year-old blind dog, arrived at the East Valley Animal Shelter in Van Nuys, CA, after being discovered alone on the streets. Fortunately, just a couple of days later, her owner reclaimed her, and many of us at the shelter felt relieved. Today, that joy turned to sorrow. BELLA, who spent her entire 9 years with her family, was surrendered to the shelter because the manager of the building where the family lives refused to permit her to remain. What kind of monster would make someone get rid of a beloved pet? As I departed the shelter today, I witnessed BELLA pressed against a wall, appearing bewildered. Consider what she must be experiencing in an unfamiliar, loud environment without the ability to see what's going on around her. This is truly heartbreaking, and BELLA must be so heartbroken.
